The levaya of the daughters of R’ Shimon Gross, Yael and Avigail, 4 and 18-months, were held in Har Menuchos on Thursday afternoon, 22 Shevat 5774. The girls were niftar on Wednesday following the tragic pesticide incident in their Yerushalayim home that has left their older brothers fighting for their lives.
The father, Rav Shimon (Shimie) spoke of the medrash with Rav Meir and how his children were niftar on Shabbos. He reminded the participants in the levaya that Rav Meir searched for the children in the beis medrash, yet they were nowhere to be found.
“אין לנו שאלות לבורא עולם. השם נתן והשם לקח יהי שם השם מבורך”
Abba continued, explaining how Yael will not be with the family to mark her fourth birthday in the coming weeks, but she will mark the day at HKBH’s side.
Rav Shimie told Ynet that his daughters were pure neshomos, and it is clear that HKBH wanted them as his side. He thanked the medical staff for their efforts and the continued efforts of the medical teams at Schneider Children’s Hospital, who are working to save his sons. “We are not looking for guilty parties. We are concerned for our sons” he stressed.
Rav Shimie concluded with a call to the tzibur to continue being mispallel for his sons, who are in need of Rachmei Shomayim;
חיים מיכאל שלמה בן מיכל
רפאל יצחק אייזק בן מיכל
The next hesped was given by Rosh Yeshivas Mir Brechfeld HaGaon HaRav Aryeh Finkel Shlita, followed by Rosh Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim HaGaon HaRav Eliezer Yehuda Finkel Shlita, and then HaGaon Rav Yitzchak Ezrachi, a Mir rosh yeshiva.
Mekubal HaRav Yaakov Addis recited Tehillim, pleading for a refuah shleima for the children who continue fighting for their lives. R’ Shimie asked Rav Addis to participate, recite Tehillim and other special tefilos on behalf of his sons.
